Gimme 2 seconds of your time, I need some advice :)

Ok.

I have a bunch of shit to update you on BUT I'm not about to do that right now.

Right now, I need a secondary opinion.

Real shit.

So I've been putting myself out there alot more lately with the whole 'hair' thing and I have gotten a bunch of responses. Some good, some weird. I got this one in particular that sounds like a great opportunity but it also sounds a bit sus.

You be the judge:

"Hello,

My name is M****, supervisor for Super Drug Stores PLC. We have an up coming shoot for our new hair and body care products in your state. We are looking for a reliable Hair stylist to take part in the shoot. After making a search on line according to the recommendation given, i decided to contact you. The shot will take place September 27th. Reply with your location, price per hour, cell number. I await to hearing from you.

M**** S******.

This was sent to me.  I never applied for any gig that would be remotely similar to this. I have no idea if someone I HAVE worked with recommended me or if this person just randomly saw my contact info somewhere and checked me out.  Either way, I'm stumped.  I don't know whether to respond or delete this shit but I can say that I'm at least curious.  And you know what they say, curiosity killed the cat. Keyword being KILLED.

I could live out some Angelina Jolie-type fantasy and go through with this thing strapped up (with like, hair spray and a stun gun) or I could try to con one of my very few dude friends in this city to go with me (though I fancy myself to be quite the tough one). Or I could just not go through with it.

What do you think? Am I being a paranoid lil biotch or should I sit my ass all the way down on this one?

Hit me up. Facebook me, Tweet me, Email me, Skype me, Tumblr me, Comment me, Text Me, Call me, or send me a letter, idgaf, just holla :)

I tried to do this as a Facebook 'Note' but it wouldn't let me copy/paste so I got all mad and said eff it.

***UPDATE***

Whoa.

So I went to get this thing figured out this morning by internet stalking every possible person involved.

Here's what I found:

1. SuperDrugs IS a legit cosmetics company in the U.K

2. The guy who's name appears in the signature which is MILLS STEWART, now that I know more I don't feel the need to protect 'him'. Which is what I used to Google him with but...

3. The email was sent from an account named 'ronaldstwrt32@gmail'.  Really? Gmail? C'mon, son. AND there was no phone #, just fax.

So the interesting part of this story is what came up in Google.

There was only one link that was specifically talking about this shit and it was on Model Mayhem, which I have been on obsessively for the past week or so. Mad bitches had the same type of email.

"I got one today too! Let's see if we can point out the red flags:

Hello,
My name is Roland Stewart, media supervisor for Lariche Hair Cosmetics, UK. We have an up coming shoot for our new hair and body care products in your state. We have two selected models, we are looking for a reliable make up artist and nail technician to take part in the shoot. The shot will take place in three weeks time. Let me know you availability, your price, location and rates, do you charge per hour or by the assignment proper. I await your response.

Roland Stewart.

*No name.
*"in your state"
*3 weeks time. Huh? So is this 3 fridays from today, on the thursday, saturday? How about an actual date?
*Let me know your....location. Um, I thought the shoot was taking place "in my state."
I also googled this and it comes up as a possible scam email from this fall. So even if I was keeping my fingers crossed it was for real (which obviously I'm not), the "three weeks time" doesn't add up to when the other people received the email. And, the 2 email addresses listed for my new friend Roland are gmail.com and live.com accounts (I couldn't get the whole email to copy, just the body). If he was really with this LaRiche (which is a real company), he'd most likely have a rolandstewart@lariche.com address. Even though they are getting better at grammar and lining up the right crafts, they all seem to follow this basic pattern of vague dates, locations, and seldom address you directly. When I get real emails from prospective new clients, they always include my name, the date and location of the shoot, and usually a reference to how they found me.

Although, it's super tempting to reply to this with an outrageous rate and then send him the address of the postmaster general as my own like Mary has done. "

and

"Okay this is weird, I got an email from that roland guy and found this post...they were trying to book me for hair/makeup here in Las Vegas. The mailed me an unsigned check for over $2800 dolla5rs. I started googling EVEYTHING, the names, addresses, phone numbers, I started calling the numbers and then i googled the named on the return address from the fedex that the check came in and got this: http://www.facebook.com/ismail.cole SCARY!!!!

I think it's a money laundering scam. BE CAREFUL, you guys..."

"Beware fellow Makeup artists;

A guy name Roland Stewart , also goes by Mills Stewart sending out e-mails to makeup artists regarding a photoshoot for their hair and body products. He has send many messages to many makeup artist; it's a scam...don't really know what he's trying to get but just please be careful everyone."
